Strategic Analysis - Research Paper Example Higher growth is positively related to rise in production by the companyââ¬â¢s factory (Bloom and Perry, 379-396). Changes in the market interest rate also affect Wal-Martââ¬â¢s earning per share. Earnings of Wal-Mart also experienced a fall due to the prevailing currency exchange rates. Wal-Mart is always affected by a strong dollar. The company also can significantly explain deflation. The products at Wal-mart are generally priced very low. The sellers experience a cost cutting scenario. So to reach the targeted price level, Wal-Mart influences the price mechanism which leads to deflationary pressures in the economy (Basker, 203-229). Wal-Mart is the largest retailer and thus its business operations are certainly influenced by various global forces. Global outsourcing has a huge impact on Wal-Martââ¬â¢s Business. The purchasing power of the United States is greatly influenced by this retailer. Factors of production prevailing in the global markets also indirectly affect Wal-Mart. Production reformation all over the world has forced the global retaining giant to modify its own production structures (Basker, 203-229). Technological forces are vital for Wal-Martââ¬â¢s success. Consumers prefer transacting via the internet and thus the retail market, particularly Wal-Mart, has seen a rise in its sales with the rise in the use of internet by consumers. Wal-Mart has always adopted innovative strategies of marketing through advertisement on their own website and different social media. The technological factors ensure that the targeted customers are identified easily. Wal-Mart has designed various policies and schemes with the help of the advanced technology to reach its customers (Singh, Hansen, and Blattberg, 457-476). Wal-Martââ¬â¢s profitability is affected by demographic factors. The structure of population greatly influences business operations of Wal-Mart. The stores of Wal-Mart are set strategically to cater to all kinds of customers; key customers are

Marginalization and humiliations Essay Example for Free
Marginalization and humiliations Essay When a group of [people are marginalied, they come together to agitate for their rights. If they are not recognized they turn to violent means to pass their message and also aim at punishing their oppressors. This is exactly the situation in Palestine where suicide bombings has almost become the order of the day as Palestinians advance their cause for the sake of their freedom. In his article titled Understanding Palestinian Terror, Dr. Eyad Sarraj (2002) explains why Palestinians have become suicide bombers. He calls this an uprising against numerous injustices that have been committed against his community. He takes us through a history of injustices starting from the occupation of their territory by Israel. Eyad believes it is out of absolute despair with the authorities that the Palestinians have turned to the violence as a means of getting what they believe is rightfully theirs. He points out that the Palestinians have over and over tried all the means even making resolutions which have not been honored. (Barlow, H 2007) One such resolution is the so called Resolution 194 where Israel was supposed to allow them back to their homeland, but this did not happen. As a result the Palestinians have been refugees on the land which they strongly believe belongs to them. (Saaraj, E 2002) The Palestinians believe they are fighting a noble cause, getting what belongs to them and also as a form of protest for the atrocities that have been meted on them, it is purely a freedom struggle. Their humiliation and marginalization has been motivation for their agitation for freedom. This type of oppression explains their anger against their perpetrators of this torture. They are very bitter that their land was taken and given to foreigners making them stateless. He rhetorically asks whether anyone knows what it feels and means to be under the Israel occupation. It is a very humiliating experience where one ceases to be a human being. One is given a number and every now and then he or she is subjected to a very dehumanizing search by the Israel forces. Belonging to any political organization calls for a sentence that is so harsh. Palestinians are enslaved in their own country making them yearn for revenge. Most of them are in a desperate situation and are willing to go to any length to revenge and also cause suffering to their oppressers. When Hezbollah and Hams groups come calling for the recruits the have people who are already willing o take the chance to fulfilling their passion. . (Saaraj, E 2002) According to Dr. Eyad Sarraj, the key motivator for the Palestinians to suicide bombing is the urge to be free and also see their oppressors suffer as they have subjected them to the years of misery. They have suffered for long under Israel occupation where no one has been spared. Their enslavement has bred so much hatred towards their enemy whom they believe deserves death and destruction. Children has seen it all as their fathers are publicly humiliated by the Israel forces, this only adds more anger to the minds of the young people who are the easy recruits to the movements and carry out most of the suicide bombings. (Saaraj, E 2002) ` Signing of the treaty by Arafat in Washington as Eyad puts it was meant to bring hope in this land, something that did not happen. He points out that all these humiliation and torture has turned Palestinians to apply the most unimagined ways to fight for their right. He adds that these people are not suffering from any psychological disorders which can make them suicidal but rather draw their inspirations from their strong will to be free and enjoy their freedom like anybody else. Through this they are able to avenge the occupation, loss of freedom and oppression. They have gone through all this misery in their whole lives and they can not take it any more. They have lost hope that any peaceful and meaningful settlement will be reached any sooner and the quickly they drive their enemies to the wall the better. They are determined to pay any prize to see to it that those who have killed their families, tortured their people are destroyed and brought to the justice by their own definition. . (Saaraj, E 2002) Nationalism and loyalty Pape believes that ninety five percent of all the suicide attacks that have been carried out in the world are not religiously motivated rather there are other reason behind them. Most of the attacks are to force the modern democracies, United States included to withdraw their forces from the territories they occupy. . (Pape, R 2005), One of these territories is the Arab world where the united states have occupied Iraq; this has led to Al Qaeda to lead a series of attacks to force them to withdraw. Pape points out that this organization central mission is to draw all the western forces from the region they claim to be Islam dominated. He argues that the attacks which were carried out in Madrid and London were not driven by the Islamic fundamentalist hate on Western countries. Though the type of literature coming from the radical Islamist group may suggest that the attacks were religiously motivated Pape tends to disagree quoting the research he has carried out on several suicide bombing over a long period of time. . (Pape, R 2005), Robert Pape has some evidence, he quoting a report released by the British Home Office . In this study, which was carried out in 2004; attitudes of the Muslim were the main area covered. It was found out that there were about two million Muslim in Britain. It was found out that about thirteen per cent of these Muslims inn Britain strongly believed that suicide bombings targeting the western powers and in particular Britain were justified. They are strongly against the presence of British forces in Middle East and the policies propagated by the western powers towards this region are not warranted. Pape observes that military policies against the Arab world are the main triggers of the hate many have against the western countries. . (Pape, R 2005), A Tamil tiger is another example that Pape has used to show that suicide bombers derive their motivation in the quest for freedom. It pure nationalist ideas that have lead these people to believe in their cause and will to go to any point to make sure they force the occupying forces out of the territory which they believe is their own. The Tamil Tiger rebel group has for along time been fighting for their freedom. They want an establishment of state which is separate from Srilanka. They have fought this war delligently; they may not have the mighty weapon which their enemies have at disposal but they believe their biggest asset is the devotion of their fighters to sacrifice their all for their freedom. ( Pape, R 2005),

Firewall Effects on Network Performance | Evaluation
Firewall Effects on Network Performance | Evaluation In an age where our society relies so heavily on electronic communication, the need for information security is constantly increasing. Given the value and confidential nature of the information that exists on todays networks, CIOs are finding that an investment in security is extremely beneficial. Without security, a company can suffer from theft or alteration of data, legal ramifications, and other issues that all result in monetary losses. [The Best Damn Firewall Book Period] Corporations are realizing the need to create and enforce an information security policy. As aà result, IT professionals are constantly being challenged to secure their networks by installing firewalls that provide more secure [Cisco Security Specialists Guide to PIX Firewall]. Firewalls are essential components in improving network security. Most firewalls are deployed at the edge of the network to filter legitimate traffic, and can be deployed in the core of the network to further supplement and protect the capability of the network and the application running over the network to deliver required services to the end user. Firewalls have become increasingly complex, evolving from offering traditional firewall capabilities to protect networks, to offering application-aware processing of several Internet protocols. Brief literature review: Firewalls are the first front line defense mechanism against intruders ,a firewall system can operate at five of the seven layers of the OSI reference model. However, most firewall systems operate at only four layers: the data link, network, transport, and, possibly, application layers. Based on the simplicity or complexity of a firewall product or solution, the number of layers covered varies. For example, a standard IP access control list (ACL) on a Cisco router functions at OSI Layer 3, and an extended IP ACL functions at Layers 3 and 4. [cisco press cisco router firewall security] Firewalls work by inspecting different fields in headers of the packet, finding the matching rule and doing the action specified in the rule. Common firewalls (and rules) examine at least IP addresses, next protocol type (TCP or UDP) and in case of TCP or UDP their respective port numbers. That usually gives five different variables (source destination address, protocol, source destination port) to work with. [Optimizing firewall performance]. [Performance analysis of the Linux firewall in a host]. As example ,a firewall that operates at only Layers 3 or 4 can filter only on IP protocol information, IP addresses, and TCP or UDP port numbers; it cannot filter on application information such as user authentication or commands that a user enters. Therefore, the more layers a firewall can process information from, the more granular it can be in its filtering process. [cisco press cisco router firewall security] There are many considerations that organizations should include in their firewall selection and planning processes. Organizations need to determine which network areas need to be protected, and which types of firewall technologies will be most effective for the types of traffic that require protection. [ Guidelines on Firewalls and Firewall Policy]. In addition, Incorporating a firewall into a network structure is likely to increase processing and even create bottlenecks [Evaluation of Firewall Effects on Network Performance] ,whereas Each rule that a firewall has to analyze results in additional processing overhead. This means that the more rules a firewall has, the longer it will take for the firewall to determine whether or not the packet in question may pass through. [Firewalls Overview and Best Practices]. As result Firewalls are one key factor in network performance. If they cant process their rules fast enough then the whole network slows down. [ Optimizing firewall performance] Some studies shows that the firewall is sensitive to the number of rules, the type of filtering, and the transmission rate. The results of our first scenario demonstrate that for each type of filtering, latency increases linearly as the number of rules increase. [Performance analysis of the Linux firewall in a host] Scope and limitation of the study: There are some points may represent the scope and limitation of the study, including: This project focus on evaluating the effect of firewall performance using an OPNET Modeler network simulator and analyzing on different scenarios and to compare the performance impact when firewall applied. This project also focusing on effects of firewall filtering on network performance. In this study we are going to select special type of firewall application firewall The number of workstation is limited which wont exceed 200 nodes. The result will be collected is based on the simulation so may be this result will not be applicable in real hardware. Statement of the research problem: This research reports on the evaluation of using firewall in three different scenarios, which can show the impact of applying the application firewall on the performance of the network. Therefore, the research addresses the following research problem: How can we make trade-off between the security and performance? Essentially I argue that in order to investigate the feasibility of getting the trade-off of using the firewall, its necessary to compare the result when the firewall applied in different scenario, it might be depends on the policy or function nodes. Research questions: To address the research problem identified in the previous section, the following research questions have been designed: What are negative aspects of firewall? What are positive aspects of combined security and performance? What are the effects of firewall in the link utilization? What are the effects of firewall in the Real time application? Research objectives: The main objective of this research is to investigate the impact of firewall policy on the performance of the network. To identify negative aspects of firewall. To determine positive aspects of combined security and performance. To examine the effects of firewall in the link utilization. To identify the impact of firewall in real-time application. To compare the result from different scenario to estimate the effects of policy. Significance of the study: The growing Demand for using firewall by the internet users and companies to provide more protection for them and the influence of apply firewall policy in the network performance gave the impetus for this study. To verify that we propose here three different scenarios, CNTs as the one of the components of MMIC transmission lines to enhance the electrical performance. This material offer some remarkable characteristics for microelectronics applications and their large kinetic inductance (skin effect), long mean free paths, high current carrying capability and high thermal conductivity made them ideal candidates for RF/microwave applications as transmission lines. Research methodology: The research methodology work will go through four stages namely: theoretical stage, data analysis and design stage, lab stage, and evaluation stage. Theoretical stage: The objective of the theoretical stage is to constitute a theoretical frame to enable the success of the lab stage through that frame. Data analysis and design stage: In this stage, all related data obtained in the theoretical stage will be analyzed and then a selection process will be done in order to get the high quality CNT and the right design for CNT-based TLs to be able to accomplish the research questions through synthesis and characterization process. Lab stage: At this stage, firstly, the growth parameters will be optimized by using chemical vapor deposition growth method In order to produce large scale and well-aligned CNTs. Next, the characterization process will be done on the samples. SEM, FESEM, and HRTEM techniques will be used to study the morphology of the samples. XRD and EDEX techniques are used to study the samples crystallographic structures and composition elements in the samples respectively. For electrical characterization, I-V and resistivity measurements using four point probes will be applied for low frequency. Lastly, in the implementation process, the determined high quality CNT will be used to fabricate transmission lines, and then RF characterization will be done using VNA at different frequencies. Evaluation stage: The experimental results are analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of the new variables in order to get the best CNT for the TLs. Current Stage: For device applications, the orientation of the CNT is particularly important. Therefore currently, the growth parameters are optimized by using chemical vapor deposition growth method and then, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to study the morphology of the samples in order to get large scale and well-aligned CNTs. The fabrication of CNTs on P-type silicon substrates; size 1 cm by 1 cm were done using nickel (Ni) as catalyst. The first process is to remove any impurity and oxidization on the Si substrate surface. The substrate will go through stages of cleaning process, starting with acetone, methanol and then rinsed with deionized water to remove organic contaminants and particles. Then, the Si wafer was cleaned by hydrogen gas to remove natural oxide. Next, a thin Ni film was deposited on a substrate as catalyst using Electron-Beam evaporator and the substrate was placed on alumina boat before placed inside a double-heater TCVD. The first heater was set at 1000Ãâà °C to decompose methane, while the second was set at 800 to 1000Ãâà °C for pre-treatment of the catalytic film. As A. Awang Teh et. al. proposed [41] a precursor of ammonia and methanol solution at ratios of 5:8 was used to enhance the growth of CNT in methane ambient. The second heater was first switched in flowing Argon at 100 sccm. When the temperature of the second heater reached setting point and stayed stable, first heater was then switched on and methane gas was flown at flow rate of 10-50 sccm. The total growth time of the CNTs varied from 30 to 3 hours. Finally, methane gas was turned off and the furnaces were cooled down to room temperature in flowing Argon at 100 sccm to avoid carbon oxidation. After fabrication is completed, The CNT morphology was examined using SEM. Figures 1- 6 show the growth of CNTs on Si substrate using Ni with different thicknesses and subjected to methane ambient at 850 oC for 2 hours. One of the first things to note is that the catalyst thickness affects the diameter and density of the CNT. The catalyst film thicker, the larger diameter and more density CNT we can get. Also, it can be seen clearly this relationship from the SEM results shown in fig.11 to 14. Furthermore, from the SEM image shown in figure 4 the least nickel or carbon nanoparticles protrude from the nanotubes was observed. These conductive nanoparticles cause electrical shorts between interconnects for device fabrication. For this reason we can consider that the optimum nickel catalyst thickness in our case is 10 nm. A final point to note is that there is no CNT at all in figure 1. It means that the catalyst film thickness is very thin and after recombination the size of catalyst nanoparticles is too small to synthesis CNTs. Another key parameter to affect CNT growth is temperature gradient. As we can see from the SEM results shown in figures 7-20, by controlling the growth temperature we can increase the growth efficiency and purity. At reaction temperature 900Ãâà °C, the growth of clean CNTs was observed. However, no CNTs were formed when the growth temperature exceeded 900Ãâà °C. Instead, amorphous carbon was observed on the surface of the substrate. Besides catalyst and temperature gradient, carbon source flow rate also plays an important role in the CNT growth. It can be stand out from experimental results shown in figures 21 to 28 that a higher flow rate will increase the decomposition rate, and consequently the growth rate of CNT. However, when the flow rate of Ni was 10 sccm there is not enough reactant to react with the catalyst and just catalyst nanoparticles were observed. The gas flow rate affects not only CNT density but also nanotubes diameter. The higher gas flow rate, the larger diameter of nanotubes will grow. However, after a critical point, increasing the flow will change the carbon product from CNTs to carbon nano-fibers (CNFs), as it was observed from the result. The last growth parameter we have optimized is syntheses time. From experimental results shown in figures 29 to 32 we can find the relationship between the syntheses time and the length on nanotubes. Longer synthesis time with longer catalyst lifetime, longer CNT we can get. More optimization and characterizations must be done on the samples in order to get well-aligned and density MWCNT, before transmission line fabrication. Preview of the thesis: This thesis is organized into five chapters. Chapter One serves as an introduction to this study, providing the theoretical framework, research objectives and significance of the present study. It also offers a brief overview of the methodology that is employed. Definitions and delimitations that map out the boundaries for the present study are also outlined. Chapter Two provides the literature review for this study and serves to develop key issues related to the theoretical framework. The third chapter is on methodology. This study approaches the issues of fabrication, simulation and modulation. The fourth chapter reports the results of the content analysis and discusses the findings. The fifth chapter reviews the research questions and summarizes the thesis. This chapter also provides suggestions for future research. Network Security is one of the most important fields dealing with the Internet. The ability to access and transfer information in a few seconds allows the government, companies, educational institutions, and individuals to accelerate the decision process or simply be informed. However, information can be very valuable and there is a need for better and faster security systems to protect information and networks. Therefore, it is best to limit the number of rules to no more than 30-50. However, for best performance, less than 25 rules are recommended. Also, firewalls process their rule base from the top down. As soon as the firewall finds a rule that applies to a particular packet, the rule is applied and the packet is processed (either allowed to continue or dropped). It is recommended that the most important and most utilized rules should be at the top of the rule list. This prevents the firewall from having to process through a number of rarely used rules to finally get to rules that apply to the majority of the network traffic. Determining the correct order of rules for a particular implementation is an ongoing process. Initially, there is a significant amount of testing and trial-and-error involved in determining the correct order that the rules should be in. Also, the rule base should be reviewed periodically to see if the organizations requirements or network usage has changed that wou ld require the reordering of existing rules as well as adding or removing rules. Finally, one should make sure to keep the number of domain objects in the rule base to a minimum, and also make sure that these objects are kept towards the bottom of the rule base list. Firewalls Overview and Best Practices There are many aspects to firewall management. For example, choosing the type or types of firewalls to deploy and their positions within the network can significantly affect the security policies that the firewalls can enforce. Policy rules may need to be updated as the organizations requirements change, such as when new applications or hosts are implemented within the network. Firewall component performance also needs to be monitored to enable potential resource issues to be identified and addressed before components become overwhelmed. Logs and alerts should also be continuously monitored to identify threats-both successful and unsuccessful. Firewall rulesets and policies should be managed by a formal change management control process because of their potential to impact security and business operations, with ruleset reviews or tests performed periodically to ensure continued compliance with the organizations policies. Firewall software should be patched as vendors provide updates to address vulnerabilities. [ Guidelines on Firewalls and Firewall Policy] The firewall can become a bottleneck. All network traffic that passes between the Internet and the DMZ, the DMZ and the private network, and potentially, the Internet and the private network, must be inspected by the firewall. This can result in the firewall becoming a bottleneck and reducing the performance between the network and the Internet.

Victory Over the Limits :: essays research papers
ââ¬Å"Victory Over the Limitsâ⬠There is no doubt that DH Lawrenceââ¬â¢s limits of expression are far different than many successful writers before him. These limits were not etched in stone, but writers knew that there were certain boundaries that should not be crossed. Lawrence chooses a number of ways to push these boundaries, and is extremely successful in doing so. His dedication to use the strongest possible language and expressions to describe sexual encounters forced his novel to come under wraps. Each of the main characters contributes to the challenge Lawrence gives to the limits of expression. Their actions as well as their language confirms the challenge Lawrence makes towards these limits. Lady Chatterleyââ¬â¢s Lover is in itself a statement to the literary world, that the limits of expression need to be challenged, and will be. Lady Constance Chatterley is one of the main characters of the novel and a very controversial figure. She is a perfect example of how the questions of social class are raised. Her existence on the country estate limits her connections with the outside world, causing strong conflict within her. The fact that her husband is paralyzed and impotent begins to wear on her, and her attitude takes a dramatic turn. Her character is a challenge to the limits of expression because of her sexual desires. Although her first affair with Michaelis did not satisfy her needs, it showed her readiness to rebel against the norm. Her second affair is the one that raises the eyebrows of anyone who reads the novel. Mellors was a man of less stature than Connie, which was another example of her rebellious nature. It also developed into much more than a harmless rendezvous. The explicit description of their sexual encounters was enough to stir up controversy. ââ¬Å"Oh, donââ¬â¢t tease himâ⬠, said Co nnie, crawling on her knees on the bed towards himâ⬠¦ her hanging swinging breasts touched the tip of the stirring, erect phallus, and caught the drop of moisture. She held the man fast. Lie down he said. Lie down! Let me comeâ⬠(LCL 226-227). That excerpt is enough to prove that DH Lawrence was ready for controversy. The fact that he places a woman in this situation shows that any one of the characters is capable of anything. Mellors is the character that takes all the limits of expression to the most extreme level. His relationship with Connie takes over the plot of the novel, bringing this gamekeeper to the forefront.

Genocide
The term genocide was not coined until 1943 when Raphael Lamkin used it to describe the Nazi reign in Europe (ROD notes). Genocide refers to the systematic destruction of a racial or cultural group. Two examples of this are the Holocaust and the Rape of Nanking. The Holocaust deals with the Naziââ¬â¢s takeover of Europe during World War II, and the Rape of Nanking is the Japanese invasion of China in the late 1930ââ¬â¢s. These events in history serve a painful reminder of the cruelest depths of human nature, but also of the possibilities that lie within every catastrophe. Bystanders always play a key role in any event, whether they have a positive or negative effect on the outcome of the situation at hand. Most, if not all, of the bystanders during the Rape of Nanking were western missionaries that happened to be in China at that time. Among them were doctors, a filmmaker, and even a Nazi. The filmmaker was a man named John Magee whose films have helped historians unlock some of the mysteries about that gruesome time. Rabà ¹ was another bystander who happened to be a Nazi with connections to Adolf Hitler. He contacted Hitler and told him of the current atrocities in Nanking and asked for assistance in fighting the Japanese; assistance that was later denied. All of the Westerners decided to take action in this situation by setting up the International Safety Zone, which harbored 300,000 Chinese refugees, in the center of Nanking. This assistance helped the people of Nanking to a phenomenal degree. On the contrary, the bystanders during the Holocaust did very little to help the victims. The bystanders during the Holocaust were mainly the Germans who lived in the surrounding areas of the concentration camps. Most of these Germans had an idea of what was going on, yet they did nothing. They had an ignorant mindset; they did not want to know and they did not care. Due to this ignorance many war crimes and crimes against humanity were committed in both cases (Horvath). During the Rape of Nanking there were many war crimes and crimes against humanity that occurred. The Japanese soldiers gathered thousands of Chinese women and forced them to live in barracks while being raped on a daily basis. They raped women of all ages, from little girls whom they cut due to their pre-pubescent age to old women into their 80ââ¬â¢s (A&E). This extensive raping is considered a crime against humanity. There were many war crimes committed by the Japanese soldiers during the Rape of Nanking. They used the prisonerââ¬â¢s of war for bayonet practice, and also held killing contests in which the Japanese officers vied to see who could kill the most people and get the highest body count. An interesting fact about the Japanese is that they were contemptuous of those who surrendered. They considered surrendering to be dishonorable and therefore felt as though it downgraded the surrendering Chinese soldiers to the level of animals. These Chinese soldiers were then shot on sight (A&E). Many more crimes were committed during these eight tragic weeks. The crimes that were committed during the Holocaust partially resemble the atrocities at Nanking. In the Holocaust people were also gathered and forced to live in barracks, but unlike Nanking they were killed for a reason. People were selected on the basis of race and religion; this is discrimination which is a crime against humanity. The largest group of those unfortunately selected, was the Jews. They were killed in masses and tortured through experimentation. Those who were barricaded in the death camps were deprived of food and proper hygiene which caused the spread of many diseases and eventually more deaths. The carnage that took place at both Nanking and during the Holocaust was due to the horrible crimes that were committed. One would hope that the offenders of these crimes would receive an equally harsh punishment (Horvath). At the conclusion of each event there was a war crime trial held. After Nanking the Tokyo War Crime Trial took place, but did not serve justice. Only eight men were killed during this process. There were seven ââ¬Å"A classâ⬠criminals that were hung, and General Matsui was also killed. Some others spent a few years in jail and then were left to continue with their lives. In fact, the man actually responsible for the crimes committed at Nanking, Prince Yusuhiko Asaka, was never even prosecuted for his role. The Nuremburg trials were held at the summation of the Holocaust (A&E). Although justice can never be served to those who were killed and tortured in the Nazi camps and their families, the Nuremburg trials had a better outcome than that of the Tokyo trials. Many Nazi soldiers were sought out and sentenced to death for war crimes committed during the Holocaust. Unfortunately, many Naziââ¬â¢s fled the country when the Americans invaded Germany and found harbor in African countries (Horvath). Both trials hardly reversed the injustices that were brought upon the victims of each incident. There are many long-term effects that have been brought upon by the Holocaust and the Rape of Nanking. One positive effect taken from these events is the heightened world-wide prevention of genocide. Many countries around the world have tried to intervene in such places as Bosnia, Cambodia, and Kosovo in order to deter those who are attempting to kill masses of innocent people (Horvath). In the minds of nearly all Japanese, the Rape of Nanking never occurred. Its story is neither told nor taught in schools, and those who have accused the Japanese government of concealing the truth have been threatened or killed. If you were to visit Japan and inquire upon many average citizens about this event, they would have no knowledge of the carnage or even the occurrence of Nanking. Although, there are those Japanese fanatics who worship the Japanese soldiers during Nanking as Gods and have set up shrines in honor of them (A&E). The atmosphere in Germany is a bit different, but has similar qualities as well. The overall German population today is very ashamed of the war criminals that represented their country. However, many current Nazi enthusiasts deny that the Holocaust ever happened. This declaration comes as a heart breaking hit to the survivors and their families (Horvath). These survivors must live the rest of their lives with the haunting and painful memories that remain vivid in their minds. At the chance that those memories subside, they are still left with the physical scars that remind them daily. The Rape of Nanking and the Holocaust are two events that have had a significant impact upon the world. There will always remain the memories of the wide-spread raping and murdering at Nanking. The mass executions and torture during the Holocaust will also linger forever in the minds of numerous survivors and their relations. Hopefully, both occasions will serve as a reminder to all people of the possibilities that can occur when you release your civil liberties. These agonizing events can never be expunged from history and no trial can ease the pangs of the victims of these crimes. Remember these victims, but more importantly learn through their experiences.

A quotation of fewer than 40 words should be enclosed in double quotation marks and should be incorporated into the formal structure of the sentence. A longer quote of 40 or more words should appear (without quotes) in block format with each line indented five spaces from the left margin. 1 References Anderson, Charles & Johnson (2003). Job Hunting While Employed Dos and Donts
Job Hunting While Employed Dos and Donts Sophie Deering over at TheUndercoverRecruiter knows about the delicate dance of looking for another job while youââ¬â¢re still employed by your last one. You have to keep your search below the radar, which flies in the face of the typical advice to advertise your job-hunting status everywhere for networking purposes! DOUpdate your LinkedIn profile. Check your privacy settings first to make sure youââ¬â¢re not broadcasting each update to your entire network. An up-to-date profile is one of the first things a recruiterââ¬â¢s going to look for.Schedule interviews during non-work hours. There are only so many ââ¬Å"doctorââ¬â¢s appointmentsâ⬠or ââ¬Å"work from homeâ⬠days you can fit in without attracting suspicion. When scheduling your interview, request beginning or end of day slots- your prospective employer should understand, and even appreciate your discretion.Network! Get in touch with past colleagues and supervisors to let them know youââ¬â¢re searching for something new; the last office job I held I got after reaching out to former coworkers who had somehow all relocated to the same company. We got two more years of working together, and are all still in touch as freelancers today.Give appropriate notice in writing. Once youââ¬â¢ve passed the interview phase and gotten that job offer, give necessary notice. Be a team player as they find and train your replacement.Leave in a professional manner. Unless your industry is so vast you may never need to see these people again, you should be professional and dignified until the very last minute. You may need your former colleagues as references or want to approach your old boss for a future collaboration. Storming out might feel great in the moment, but being gracious and poised will take you further.DONââ¬â¢TTalk to colleagues about your job hunt. If you have one or two close colleagues who you know are well-connected, it may be a good idea to let them know youââ¬â¢re looking so you have a reliable reference at your current gig, but you definitely donââ¬â¢t want your business becoming water-cooler conversation. Itââ¬â¢s counterproductive for morale and productivity.Donââ¬â¢t dress differently than normal. If your current workplace is pretty casual, you donââ¬â¢t want to suddenly show up in a suit or more formal outfit- take a change of clothes with you and change somewhere en route to avoid suspicion.Donââ¬â¢t job search while youââ¬â¢re at work. This should be a no brainer, but unless you want your job search financed by your severance pay, keep your Monster.com searches confined to your evenings, lunch hour, and weekends.Donââ¬â¢t post your resume on job boards. The odds of someone from your organization seeing your info there are higher; apply for jobs that have submission processes, not the ones that require a job-searching profile.Donââ¬â¢t mention the job search on social media. I donââ¬â¢t think this one is fair, but as an employee youââ¬â¢re always representing your employer in some capacity- if youââ¬â¢re kvetching where anyone can see it or openly ready to move on, your employer may decide to take care of the conflict of interest in a way you wonââ¬â¢t like.à The Doââ¬â¢s and Donââ¬â¢ts of Finding a Job When You Are Already in a Jobà Read More at theundercoverrecruiter.com
